This guide will explain wheel offsets in general and wide offset wheels for Side By Sides.
Wheel offsets are measured in inches or millimeters depending on the manufacture. Since ITP wheels are the largest seller in the world of ATV and Side by Side wheels we will deal in inches as that is how the offsets are measured with ITP wheels.
There are 3 types of wheel offsets I will discuss.
Stock OEM wheels that come with your ATV, aftermarket wheels like ITP's and wide offset aftermarket wheels.
What is an offset? A wheel offset is the measured distance from the inside of the wheel to the mounting surface and the distance of the outside of the wheel to the mounting surface. Wheel offsets in inches for example is show as 5+2 or 4+3 etc. a 5+2. The first number is the depth of the mounting surface from the inside, and the second number is the depth from the outside. Adding the number together gives you the total width of the wheel.
Most stock OEM wheels have very little offset, especially in the front. Aftermarket wheels provade a bit more offset so wider tires may be used and clear suspension components. Aftermarket wheels like ITP, make most ATV's and Side by Side a few inches wider than stock. Wide offset wheels make them as much as 8" wider total width depending on the tire used.
For example, with the Polaris RZR, the unit from the factory is 50 inches wide. Adding Stock ITP wheels will make the unit approximately 54" wide and if the rear wide offset wheel is used, the unit becomes 58" wide in the rear. Stock ITP wheels in a 14" SS Alloy 112 rear wheel is 5+3. The wide offset rear wheel is 3+5.
Most IRS ATVs can use wide offset wheels, but very few riders opt for this option, while over 50% or our Side by Side owners purchase wide offset wheels for their units as this offers a bit more stability to help reduce rollover. So many want this option we offer it with most of our wheel sets and big foot kits for the Side by Sides.

The Yamaha Rhino started the wide offset use large scale. Owners found that be using the rear wheel normally used on the straight axle Honda, they could acheve a wider stance. Since both models are the same bolt pattern, this was a easy fix for owners who wanted to be wider. Since the 4/110 bolt pattern is the most popular bolt pattern for ATV wheels The Rhino's can get wide offsets wheels in almost every Cast Aluminum wheel ITP makes.
Rhino wide offset wheels available in all 12" wheels front and rear. In 14" wheels, all rear wheels are available in wide offset. A few owners will put a rear wheel on the front so the may get wide offset fronts in 14" wheels.
Teryx wide offset wheels are only available in 14" and are made in most SS Alloy wheels. A few owners will put a rear wheel on the front so they may get wide offset fronts in 14" wheels.
RZR wide offset rear wheels are only available in the 14" SS Alloy 112 wheels. A few owners will put a rear wheel on the front so they may get wide offset fronts in 14" wheels.
